Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book my date?
There is really no guideline set in stone for when you should book, but I always say the sooner the better to avoid disappointment! Most brides book 12-18 months in advance & due to high demand, we are unable to inform brides if another bride has inquired about their date. In order to be held, all wedding dates require a 50% (non-refundable) retainer & a signed contract, which also locks in our current rates - which are subject to change without notice.
When do you suggest scheduling a hair & makeup trial?
1-3 months before your wedding day is the sweet spot! Your bridal look will be fresh in your beauty team’s mind & by this point all of the final details will be set, so you’ll likely have an exact vision as to what you’d like for your hair + makeup.
Can a second artist or stylist be added on for a shorter timeline?
Absolutely! A second artist or stylist can be added for an additional fee of $150, for parties of 8+ people only & if availability allows.
Do you have a minimum?
We do! A minimum of 5 services booked or the equivalent dollar amount is required for all on-site bookings. We may still be able to accommodate less than 5 services booked at our studio in Smiths Falls, so please drop us a line if this something you’d be interested in.
Can I make changes to my booking after making it official?
Services can be added, pending our availability, however services cannot be removed. If you have any doubts before booking as to what your final number will be, I always suggest booking for only those who are confirmed.
What products do you use?
We use a wide range of products ranging from luxury to professional brands, all of which we have spent years testing (& rejecting). Some of our favourite lines include Hourglass Cosmetics, Marc Jacobs & of course our own, Jacquie K. Cosmetics! Everything in our hair & makeup kits are also cruelty-free - because beauty does not ever have to equal pain.
How do I touch up my makeup?
While we like to think that our applications are bulletproof, we always suggest buying your lip colour & translucent powder for the day of. I created Jacquie K. Cosmetics with my bridal babes in mind, so you can buy a touch-up kit from us that includes both. As far as touching up itself goes, we have your back with this blog post: How-To: Touch Up Your Makeup in 3 Easy Steps.
What sort of timeline should I expect?
We generally allot 45 minutes per bridesmaid or attendee & one hour for the bride, plus additional time for touch ups. If extra services are required, such as tattoo coverage, more time is allotted. An exact timeline will be provided well in advance of your scheduled date. Additionally, it's always a good rule of thumb to eliminate distractions during hair & makeup applications, including cell phone usage & eating, to ensure your timeline runs smoothly.
Can I book a trial before locking in my date?
We reserve trials only for brides who have locked in their dates. We do so because we cannot hold dates up until trials, due to the high volume of inquiries we receive every single day, often for the same dates!
Do you offer early morning bookings?
Of course! An early morning start fee of $50 per hour applies for bookings before 7:00am.
